Overall, it is clear that the number of people taking part in Rugby showed a downward trend, while the opposite was true for Tennis. Basketball and Badminton remained relatively stable. However, the most drastic shift in popularity was witnessed in Rugby.
Looking at the graph, Rugby was the most played sport, with 240 individuals participating in 1985, the highest figure that year. The number of people playing Rugby dropped to 200 in 1995, before declining sharply to 50 in the final year. In contrast, the number of participants engaging in Tennis stood at 150 in the first year. Then it experienced a significant rise and continued to climb to 220 in 2005.
At the start of the period, a similar number of people played Basketball and Badminton, with figures of 50 and 80, respectively in 1985. Thereafter, both figures declined marginally in the next 5 years. The participant numbers for basketball rose to about 90, before decreasing to 80 at the end of the year.. Meanwhile, the number of people taking part in badminton maintained stability between 1995 and 2005, (50).
