The line graph illustrates how many people participated in four types of sports in a particular area from 1985 to 2005.
From an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the number of people playing tennis increased, while the opposite was true for rugby. In addition, the trends for basketball and badminton were remained stable and comparable over the period surveyed.
In the first decade, rugby stood out as the highest at nearly 250 players. It was followed by that of tennis with the total of 150 people respectively. In the next five years, there was a significant decrease in the number of people participating rugby from around 250 to exactly 200 participants. In addition, this figure plummeted to 50 at the end in 2005. Notably, tennis witnessed dramatic growth from 150 players in 1985, execced rugby at 200 in 1995 to become the most favourable sport in 2005 with nearly 250 participants.
According to the line graph, beginning with 80 the total number of basketball players was 30 more than badminton. Over 20 years, there were remained stable from 1985 to 1995, these numbers mostly remained nearly unchanged for the remaing years of the observed period.
