Overall, cinema attendance inreased in all age groups over the period. Young people aged 15-24 consistently showed the highest figures, while those aged 35 and over had the lowest participation.
In 1984, around 18% of individuals aged 15-24 went to the cinema monthly. This figure rose strongly, reaching approximately 35% in teh early 1990s and then shake before peaking at about 55% in 2002, followed by a slight decline at the end of the period. A similar upward trend can be seen among the 7-14 age group, which increased from roughly a tenth in 1984 to nearly 38% in 2002, before dropping slightly to around a third in 2003.
For people aged 25-35, attendance grew more gradually, starting at about 5% and rising to approximately aroud a third by the early 2000s, despite some shake. Meanwhile, the 35 and over group showed the slowest growth, increasing aroud 1-2% to about 12-13% by 2003.
