The line graph provides the breakdown of proportions of those who visited cinema at least once in a month divided by ages between 1978 and 2008.
Overall, patterns in the graph followed a contrasting trend. While the percentage of the age bracket of 14-24 led the graph throughout the measured period, the reverse was true for those who were 50+. Besides, the pattern for 25-34 age group was far more irregular.
Looking at leading figures first, almost 90% of people who aged between 14 and 24 went to the cinema at least once in a month in 1978, which was followed by a constant downturn until 1988, ending up with 85%. Despite growing slightly and bouncing back to its original value in 1998, proportions fell down and constituted roughly 86% by 2008. The pattern of people who were between 25 and 34 followed the same suit, albeit with far more irregularities. After taking a dive to 60%, the percentage of people who went to the cinema in the age group of 25-34 increased constantly until 1998 accounting for 80%. After that numbers remained unchanged within a 5 year time frame, which was followed by a slight dip to 77% in 2008.
The remaining two age categories bucked the foregoing upward trend. Having declined modestly to 50% , the percentage of 35-49 aged people who went cinema soared to a staggering 70% and remained relatively stable until the end of the measured time frame. The same picture can be observed in the 50+ age bracket where proportions fluctuated between 40% and 50% until 1998 and remained stable.
