The line graph illustrates the recycling rate for selected materials, including paper and cardboard, glass containers, aluminum cans, and plastics between 1982 and 2010 in a particular nation.
Overall, it is clear that there was a marked increase in the proportion of four different materials that were recycled, with the exception of paper and cardboard, which declined.
It is evident that the recycling rate of paper and cardboard was 60% at the beginning of the given period, and this rose to 70% in 1986. Then there was a fall in the recycling rate, at about 68% in 1990. This reached its peak at 80% in 1994, and gradually decreased to 70% in 2010. However, glass containers declined to 40% from 50% in 1986. Followed by that, there was a significant growth in the recycling rates of glass containers , at about 60% in 2010. Aluminum cans’ recycling rates began at nearly 1% and this soared to approximately 46% over the given period. Finally, the recycling rates of plastics ranged between 0 and 10%.
