The given chart illustrates how much investment funds of four groups cost in US dollars between 1988 and 2014.
Overall, there was an increase in all figures over the surveyed period. Notably, gold became the most valuable investment funds in the US, whereas property was the least figure.
In terms of gold and fine Art, in 1988, around 100 million dollars was invested in Gold, compared to roughly 17 million dollars of Fine Arts. Then the figure for gold increased by approximately 50 million dollars in 1992, before it surged back to peak at around for 450 million dollars in 2012, followed by a decline to 380 million dollars in 2014. Similarly, after remaining static at 18 million dollars over the next 8 years, the figure for Fine Art overcame a fluctuation between nearly 100 and roughly 160 million from 1998 to 2006, after which it grew dramatically, reaching about 340 million dollars in 2014
Turning to the remaining categories, both property and company shares started at around 50 million dollars in the first year and increased to nearly 75 million dollars in 1994. From the 1994s onwards, while the figure for company shares rose slightly with approximately 250 million dollars in 2014, that for property only reached roughly 190 million dollars in the final year.
