The line graph illustrates the consumption of fish and some different kinds of meat in a European country over the period from 1979 to 2004.
Overall, chicken consumption experienced a significant upward trend, while beef and lamb witnessed a considerable decrease over the 25 years period. Fish was the least consumed and remained relatively stable.
In 1979, beef was the most popular meat, with a consumption of approximately 220 grams per person per week. However, the figure fell dramatically to about 100 grams in 2004. Similarly, lamb consumption, which started at around 150 grams, more than halved to roughly 60 grams by the end of the period.
In contrast, chicken consumption showed a remarkable increase. Starting at about 140 grams in 1979, it surpassed beef as the most consumed meat around 1990 and peaked at nearly 250 grams in 2004. Meanwhile, fish consumption remained the lowest and most stable throughout the period, fluctuating alightly between 40 and 60 grams.
