The graph below illustrates the number of different cosmetic surgeries performed on both men and women in Korea in 2004.
The most popular surgery among women was eyelid surgery, with 320,000 procedures performed. Conversely, the least frequent procedure was liposuction, which had around 110,000 recorded operations. Other common surgeries for women included liposuction, rhinoplasty, and breast enlargement, with approximately 280,000, 210,000, and 150,000 surgeries respectively.
Interestingly, hair transplantation was the primary cosmetic surgery for Korean men, while there are no records of this procedure being performed on women. Additionally, abdominoplasty was also exclusively performed by men, though only a few underwent it—around 19,000 procedures. Both abdominoplasty and liposuction were recorded for men, but each had fewer than 20,000 operations.
Overall, the number of surgeries performed on women significantly exceeded that of men, with the least preferred surgery for men nearly doubling the most preferred option. Both genders shared a few common cosmetic surgeries, including liposuction, rhinoplasty, and laser skin resurfacing.
