Overall, it is obvious that the amount of people getting citizenship have increased over the years. And the origins of people getting them are mostly Asians in both periods of time.
To begin with, the number of people granted with citizenship were roughly 20500 at the start of the given period(1962). As years passed it gradually increased to around 60000 in 1988.However, in 1996, the numbers dropped by 20000 and ended up at 40000 in 1996. Despite the decline the amount of UK citizenships experienced a dramatical increase and peaked at 90000 in 2000.
By far the majority of population given citizenship came from Asia and remained dominant in both 1996 and 2002 by being 19000 in 1996 and 50000 in 2002.
