In general, despite having a marginal decline in about 1995, the number of the UK citizens surged in the final years given. It is also clear that Asian citizens made up most of the citizenship of the UK while the reverse was true for Australian and other people in both given years, 1996 and 2002.
Starting with roughly 25,000 citizens in the initial year, 1962, the number of citizens increased significantly by 40,000 between the years 1985 and 1990, which was the followed by a slight decline of 15,000 in the years between 1990 and 2000. The figure then soured, increasing dramatically to 12,000 citizens in the final year, 2002.
As for the origins of the citizens, in 1962, 19,000 people were Asians while 5,000 citizens were Australian and others. The number of European & American and African citizens was the same, 9,000. When it comes to year 2002, Asian citizens made up most with 50,000 whereas the number of Australian and others were only 4,000. European & American and African people accounted for 27,000 and 39,000 of the UK citizenship.
