The graphs illustrate the proportion of men and women employees in various working sectors of the Republic of Freedonia in 1975 and 1995. The units are calibrated in thousands.
Overall, the most number of workers were employed in the Public sector (non-defence), while the least number of people were in the Public sector (defence) in both the years. Moreover, the number of working men exceeded the total number of women in almost both the time periods.
The non-defence public sector had the maximum number of both male (over 8,00,000) and female (nearly 6,50,000) employees and the count approximately remained the same in both 1975 and 1995. Wholesale and retail trade was the next highest sector where, in 1995, about 5,00,000 females and 7,00,000 males were working. However, the numbers surged in both male and female categories in 1995. Furthermore, the manufacturing industry also had almost the same proportion of workers in both the years.
Other categories including defense public sector, Finance/Banking and communication departments had relatively less number of people in staff. Interestingly, in all these three sectors the number of working men was more than the number of ladies in 1975, however the ratios changed entirely in 1995 where the female employees’ count exceeded the total number of men in business.
