The chart depicts the rate of employment for men and women from 60 to 64 years old in 4 different countries in 2 timepoints of 1970 and 2000.
It is clearly that the rate of employed people in all of the countries at both genders decreased gradually. It is also noticeable that the percentage of woman having a job is lower than man having that in the four countries.
In 1970, the USA had the ratio of employed man highest, at 86 percent. This is followed by Indonesia, at 84 percent, then Belgium, around 79 percent, and finally Japan, standing at 76%. This country also had the rate highest for woman, with 78 percent, and the lowest was also Japan.
About the year of 2000, the US, with 78 percent of older man having a job, still managed to got this percentage highest, as the lowest is Belgium, just above one half. Regarding the elder employed woman rate, Indonesia, right at one half, had the rate highest. This percentage in USA and Japan, when compared to Indonesia, have a narrow difference, at 45% and 47% respectively. Belgium got the ratio far lower than the other countries, only at 8%.
