Overall, while the percentage of movies premiered witnessed a downward trend in both years, the opposite trend can be seen in the amount of cinema ticket sales chart. Additionally, both drama and comedy films recorded the highest mark, whereas romance movies still stayed at the last throughout the graphs.
Looking first at the highest data in both figures, the amount of drama released marked the highest statistics with 26% in 1996 and 35% in 2000. However, the number of cinema ticketing showed a slightly increase of approximately 16% – 17% in both years. Moreover, comedy got the second place with comedy rose from 20% in 1996 to 25% in 2000 combined with the same amount of ticket sales in 1996 and climbed to 23% in 2000.
Turning to the remaining films, fantasy was far more dominant than romance throughout 1996 and 2000. Fantasy increased 13% in 1996 to more than 15% in 2000 with the similar trend appearing in the ticketing graphs that it increased 3% to slightly over 5%. In contrast, while the proportion of romance movies premiered remained stable in both years, the ticket sales declined 5% in 1996 to 3% in 2000.
