The line charts illustrate the number of visits to the UK from France and North America for two different purposes, namely holiday and business, measured in millions.
Overall, holiday visits generally outnumber business visits. In addition, the figure for North America is generally higher than that of France. Furthermore, the numbers for both categories for holiday visits increase before returning to their initial levels. Moreover, both categories reach their peaks in the middle of the year.
Looking first at holiday visits, the figure for North America stands at around 0.90 million, which is slightly higher than that of France at roughly 0.70 million at the beginning of the period. Following this, the figure for America rises noticeably and reaches a peak at 3 million, followed by a sharp decline to its initial level in the last three months. Similarly, the figure for France grows steadily and peaks at 1.5 million before decreasing moderately to its initial level by the end of the period. Additionally, the figures for the two regions converge at a common point twice at roughly 1.1 million visits in February and November.
Regarding business visits, France and North America witness relatively similar patterns. In the first nine months, both categories show fluctuations with a general rise from 0.05 million and 0.15 million visits respectively, and reach peaks at 0.2 and 0.3 million twice in May and October. In the following timeline, while the number of visits from France declines slightly to approximately 0.15 million, that of North America rises to about 0.32 million visits by the end of the year.
