Overall, it is clear that the majority of consumers tend to purchase a new car after 5 years or more , and second-hand cars are the most popular choice regarding the type of vehicle purchased.
The first bar showed that approximately 52% change old vehicles are changed after five years or more, and roughly 38% of people change to a new car every 3 or 4 years. In contrast, the proportion of purchasing a car after 2 years and never changing at only 5% and 3% respectively. Also, about 1% of people change every year. Meanwhile, around 2% of citizens didn’t even own a car.
In regard to the type of automobile in European countries, in 2009, almost 70% of the population chose to buy second-hand vehicles, while approximately 25% preferred to brand new vehicle. In addition, roughly 10% of people sometimes purchase a new car or a second-hand car.
