A more detailed examination reveals that there was a drastic change in the category of food. Initially, the food consumption, in the year 1971 , was 44% which was approximately equal to half a quarter. But, this number declined throughout the period almost nearly equal to the minority. In contrast, the habit of driving a car by the UK citizens was over one-fifth. However, this number has doubled.
Furthermore, in the initial years , the eating habit in a restaurant was 7%, which increased and become doubled in the final year. Moreover, for furniture and petrol, the former spending was 9% and the latter used to be 10%. Whereas, in the final year, a marginal decrease was observed in these two categories. Additionally, a plunge from 6% to 1% was seen in books in the year 2001
Overall, it is evident that an enormous change was seen in the consumption of food routines. However, the mode of using a car increased tremendously while books saw a decline in the final year.
