The diagram illustrates how wollen yarn is manufactured from the fleeece of sheep.

Overall, it is a linear process consisting of six main stages: shearing, baling, washing, carding, streching and twisting, and wounding.

The first step is to shear the fleece of the sheep manually with a trimming machine, when sheep becomes a fully matured. After that, the collected fleece is then baled into a huge bundle. The bale is transpoted to a milling factory, where the baled fleece is washed in water throughly to remove the presence of any dirt. The fleece is ready for carding.

In a carding machine, the cleaned fleece is combed finely and passes in between two rollers to form a sheet of wool, which is then twisted to form a long single rope, called sliver. The sliver is then stretched and twisted, and winded onto a cone to form a thin yarn. Finally, the thin yarn is wounded into balls of wool.
