The diagram illustrates changes is layout of a public library over a 20 years period.
Overall, the building has been considerably modernised by several facilities replaced into areas for technology and community activities. The most noticeable changes are removing of a reading room and enquiry desk, as well as renewing them to a computer room and cafè.
Twenty years ago the library was divided into sections. Upper left corner used to be occupied by CDs, videos and computer games, while top right consisted place for children’s books. Adult fiction and non-fiction took place in the center of building on either sides of tables and chairs. At the bottom reading room on the left and enquiry desk on the right, with the main entrance in the middle.
Nowadays, the children section has been expended and now contains children’s fiction books, sofas and area for storytelling events. The former CDs, videos and computer games has therefore been replaced into these facilities. The central area is now occupied with all reference books on the left and information desk with service machines on the right, still containing some space for adult fiction books. Whereas, tables and chairs have been removed. Ultimately, bottom left areas has become a computer room, while cafè has been added on the bottom right. A new lecture room has also been created in the upper right corner.
