The maps describe the changes that took place in the town of Lakeside within a span of 9 years, starting from 2000.
Overall, the area went from a relatively underdeveloped industrial town to a modernized one within the given timeframe. Of particular note are the expansion of the industrial complex and the construction of new facilities such as a shopping center and offices at the expense of some old features.
In 2000, Lakeside town was mostly a residential area. There was a river running from south to north with a lake on its northern mouth. To the north-west of the river, an art center and a school could be found, which were flanked by residential areas to their north and south. Furthermore, an old town and a derelict warehouse were situated by the lake further north. The south-eastern part of the town was occupied by an industrial complex with another residential area to its south.
By 2009, the town had undergone a complete makeover. Probably the most significant change was the reconstruction of the old town into modern offices and a university along with the conversion of the old warehouse into a parking lot for convenient parking. Additionally, the art center was rebuilt into a new cinema while the residential area to its south was repurposed into a shopping mall. The residential area in the north-west and the school by the river, on the other hand, remained unchanged. Moreover, the industrial complex across the river was expanded southward taking the place of the residential area there. Finally, the lake had significantly shrunk, turning into a pond.
