The maps demonstrate Lakeside in 2000 and the same area after 9 years.
Overall, the modernization of the Lakeside made it more urbanized and developed, nevertheless, it has become less environmentally friendly. Also the changes affected both residential and other facilities What stands out, only 3 features
remained untouched.
In 2000, there were 3 residential areas, located in west, south-western and north-eastern corners respectively, but only last one didn’t experience any changes. First described residental field was demolished, giving a way to modern shopping centre, whereas second made way for the significant expansion of industrial complex. Urbanization has also affected the old town, which became place for offices and university.
The teardown of derelic warehouse gived an area to car park, just as an art centre, which became a cinema throughout the period. School, located in the centre of given area stayed the same, just like as a river. The source of the river was a lake, but it experienced a large decrease in volume, and became a little pond which is 2 times smaller. The modernization of this place made it more industrial and developed, but the environment worsened with the shortening of lake and expansion of factories.
