Overall, it is clear that young people, specifically those around the age of 20, committed the most crimes. In terms of crime types, violent crime was the most common offense, accounting for almost half of all reported incidents.
Looking at the line graph in detail, the crime rate was extremely low for those under 12 years old. After this age, the number of offenses rose sharply, reaching a peak of 80% for 20-year-olds. Following this peak, the rate fell steeply until the late twenties and then continued to decline more gradually, remaining at a low level for people aged 40 and over.
The pie chart shows that violent crime made up the largest proportion of offenses at 46%. Property crime was the second most frequent type, accounting for 23% of the total, which was a very similar figure to drug-related crime at 22%. Finally, public order crime was the least common category, representing just 9% of all crimes committed in the UK last year.
