The line graph illustrates the number of visitors, measured in thousands, who visited three London museums (the British Museum, the Science Museum, and the Natural History Museum) between June and September 2013.
Overall, the British Museum attracted the highest number of visitors throughout the period and reached its peak in July. In contrast, both the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum experienced declines in visitor numbers during the middle of the period before recovering in September. All three museums ended the period with higher visitor figures than in August.
Looking first at the British Museum, visitor numbers were the highest throughout the period. The figure stood at approximately 600,000 in June and then rose sharply to a peak of around 750,000 in July. After that, the number fell considerably to about 520,000 in August before recovering to nearly 680,000 visitors in September. Despite some fluctuations, the British Museum remained the most popular of the three museums during the summer of 2013.
Regarding the other two museums, the number of visitors to the Natural History Museum decreased significantly from about 550,000 in June to 400,000 in July. It then remained stable in August before rising to approximately 500,000 visitors in September. Similarly, attendance at the Science Museum fell gradually from 400,000 in June to around 320,000 in August. However, it recovered sharply in the final month, reaching nearly 480,000 visitors. Overall, both museums experienced a decline during the middle of the period, followed by a noticeable increase in September.
