The line graph below illustrates cinema attendance based on age distribution in the UK over a twenty-year period from 1990 to 2010.
It is evident that all age groups of cinema visitors displayed similar trends throughout the twenty years, despite some slight fluctuations. Another noteworthy point is that individuals aged between 44 and 54 made up the largest proportion of moviegoers, while the lowest attendance rate was observed among those under 24.
In 1990, the percentages of people aged 34 to 44 and those aged 44 to 54 were quite similar, each around 36%. In contrast, the willingness of younger audiences aged 14 to 24 and 24 to 34 to watch movies was lower, at approximately 15% and 24%, respectively.
During the first ten years of the period, attendance for all age groups increased by nearly 3%, reaching a peak in 1995, before experiencing a decline of 5% in the following five years. However, by 2010, the proportions of cinema attendees aged 14 to 24 and 24 to 34 continued to rise, reaching peaks of 51% and 43%, respectively. In comparison, the attendance rates for the older age groups remained stable, with around 33% for audience members aged 24 to 34 and almost 21% for those aged 14 to 24.
