Overall, all four countries showed an increase in the average height of women during the 50-year period. Latvia presented the most significant rise, while The Netherlands saw only a slightly grow in their average height. Additionally, France grew steadily in the period and Sweden nearly had no change.
Latvia’s average height began 1946 in the third position among all countries, but it grew dramatically from 164 cm to 170 cm in 50 years, and became the highest. The Netherlands had the biggest average in 1946, with 166 cm, however, due to its slower growth, compared to Latvia, the country became the second by 1996, with nearly 169 cm.
France presented a steady growth, moving the average height of women, from 161 cm in 1946 to almost 164 cm in 1996, however, the country kept its last place during all the years. Finally, Sweden was the country that almost had no changes in their women height average, the country start 1946 with 165 cm and only increased it to around 165.5 cm by 1996.
