The chart illustrates the average minimum and maximum temperatures in Scotland for a period of 12 months, whereas the table gives data on the average monthly rainfall and sunshine hours.
Overall, both the average high and low temperatures nearly followed the same pattern, increasing and decreasing at the same time. As for the rainfall, it was much higher in the second part of the year than the first part, and the average sunshine hours rose in the first 6 months and dropped in the next half-year period.
To begin with, the average minimum temperature went up significantly from 2°C to almost 11.5°C, reaching its peak in August. After that, it diminished drastically for the rest of the period, translating to only slightly above 2°C in December. Similarly, the average maximum temperature surged substantially and attained its highest point of 19°C in August before going down by 10°C for the next four months.
Speaking of rainfall, it showed a varying pattern throughout the period, presenting higher numbers at the beginning (11°C) and at the end (12.5°C) of the year. However, the sunshine hours climbed progressively from January to June and fell steadily from June to December, returning to the original level of 1 hour a day.
