The graph gives information about the changing trends in fast food consumption in Britain over the two-decade period from 1970 to 1990. Overall, pizza was the most consumed fast food at the beginning of the period, but its popularity declined dramatically over time. Meanwhile, hamburgers and fish and chips saw a significant increase, although they were initially the least preferred items.
Looking more closely at the data, pizza was initially the most popular fast food, at around 300 grams in 1970, before it dropped sharply to 210 grams by 1980. After that, its consumption remained constant, with no further rise or decline. In contrast, hamburgers started at approximately 20 grams in 1970 and increased gradually to 100 grams in 1985. Over the next five years, they saw a sharp jump from 100 to 300 grams, reaching that figure by the end of the period.
Finally, although fish and chips was the least consumed item at the start, it rose steadily throughout the period and became the most favored choice in 1990, at around 500 grams.
