Overall, the number of armed robberies had significantly decreased, while the level of assault slightly increased and murderers remained almost the same over the entire period.
The level of crime in terms of robbery with weapons was the highest among other types of crimes with just below 3,500 in 2003 before peaking slightly up to 3,700 in 2004. Then this trend continued with a moderate fall to just above 1,000 in the next four years. After increasing slightly to about 1,500, this crime level remained unchanged by the end of the given period.
On the other hand, a number of assaulters was in second place among the crimes shown, and fluctuated between 2,000 and 2,500 from 2003 to 2009. In the last three years this trend increased gradually up to 2,800, being considered as the most frequent crime. In terms murder, there were no significant changes throughout the period except from 2005 when the number was at its peak of about 900. Most of the time, the level of crime stayed just above 500 with slight fluctuations.
