The graph shows the popularity of four different types of attractions in Edinburgh chosen by tourists from 1980 to 2010. Overall, the castle was the most popular attraction throughout the period, experiencing a considerable rise from 1985 to 1995. In spite of substantial decrease it was number one for tourists with the highest peak of about 45%.
The festival started at around 30% in 1980 and was fluctuating between 20 and 30 percent during three decades. There was a rapid increase in the number of tourist visiting aquarium from 1980 to 1985 experiencing a rapid plunge to 1990. We can also see a slow decline in percentage of tourists visiting aquarium from 1995 to 2010. The least favourite for people traveling to Edinburgh was zoo. We can see a clear fluctuation between 9 to 15 percent in 1980 and 2000. However, there was a sharp increase in zoo tourism between 2000 and 2010 compared to a steep decrease in aquarium attendance.
In conclusion, the castle remained the most favourite attraction for tourists in Edinburgh. The festival lost its popularity over time, while aquarium and zoo remained the least favourite option.
