The line graph indicates the production of three forest industries, namely paper and packaging, wood pulp and sawn-wood in the UK between 1980 and 2000.
Overall, It is obvious that paper and packaging production accounted for the largest figure throughout the period, its figure began to shoot up since 1990. In contrast, the production of sawn-wood and wood pulp experienced gradual drops from 1980 to 2000.
In 1980, the UK produced over 225 million tonnes of paper and packaging. This number then increased slightly to exactly 250 million tonnes in1990, and continued to rose significantly to reach a peak of 350 million tonnes at the end of period.
Meanwhile, there was a mild fluctuation in the production of wood pulp from about 170 million tonnes in 1980 to 150 million tonnes in 1990 before climbing gradually to nearly 160 million tonnes in 2000. Sawn-wood production also witnessed a remarkable fall from 200 million tonnes in 1980 to 125 million tonnes in 1990, turning from the second to the last place in the UK’s production of forest industries.
