Overall, it is clearly seen that the percentage of mobile users showed an upward trend over the period and they experienced the largest change, while fixed subscribers remained at a similar level without rising significantly, in spite of that they increase slightly.
In 1994, the proportion of fixed subscribers started at 1.7%, Not many people in Africa chose fixed , with just 0.06%. After that they both increased steadily over a 5-year period.
From 1999 to 2001, the percentage of mobile dramatically experienced a rise, from 1% to 3%, surpassing the fixed figure of fixed, with about 2.9%. Afterwards, mobile’s subscribers rose more sharply between 2002 and 2003, 4% and 6%, respectively, by 2004, they peaked at 8.8%. In contrast, chosen people of fixed increased gradually during 4 years, and the last year, they accounted for 3.1%.
