The line chart gives information about the percentage of internet users in three american countries from 1999 to 2009. Overall, all three countries experienced an increase in the percentage of people who used the internet. Interestingly, the figure for both the USA and Canada showed a significant growth compared to that for Mexico.
Focusing on the USA and Canada first, where higher rates were observed, the share of internet users in Canada started approximately at 10% in 1999. Then, the figure rose considerably to 60% by 2003 and from 2003 to 2009 the rate of internet users showed a steady increase by 30%. As for the USA, in 1999 there were 20% of people who used the internet. Despite a stable growth in the proportion of internet users, the USA lost its position as a country with the highest percentage of internet users among three countries after 2002, even though it equalled Canada in 2005.
In contrast, the proportion of internet users in Mexico were 5% and experienced the lowest number from the start of the period. From 1999 to 2001, there was a steady rise in the percentage of internet users by 5%. Then, from 2001 to 2005 the figure started growing a bit faster and reached 25%. After this, the proportion of internet users increased steadily to 35% by the end of the period.
