Task 1The graph illustrates the average daily spend of three different categories of international visitors in New Zealand between 1997 and 2017.Overall, what stands out from the graph is that there were considerable upward trends in spending by visitors on visiting friends or relatives and holiday or vacation, while the spending on business saw a gradual fall over the period. Another interesting point is that average spendings on business was the most popular, but spending on holiday emerged as the dominant figure by the conclusion of the period.
Looking at the details, as regards average daily spending on visiting friends or relatives, it started at almost 120$ in 1997, then there was a fluctuation over the next decade, at which point it went up to almost 220$. Then the figure went down significantly, finishing at around 140$ in 2017.
If we look at average spending on holiday or vacation, the trend was similar. It strikingly increased from about 200$ to almost 280$, but then it fluctuated, reaching nearly 260$ at the end of the period.
By contrast, spendings on business went in the opposite direction. Starting at approximately 260$ it experienced a sharp fall to just over 180$ in 2008. After that, the figure fluctuated around 160$ until 2010, when it went up and breached a 200$ threshold at the end of the timeframe.
