The line graph illustrates the proportion of EU citizens of 4 different age groups who went to the gym between 1990 and 2010.
Overall, it is immediately evident that there were more and more gym goers of various age groups in the EU. Notably, the 18-23 age group has the lowest gym attendance over the period.
Regarding the percentage of people who went to the gym in the 44-53 age group, there was a significant growth from about 16% to approximately 24% (from 1990 to 1944) . Moreover, after hitted the lowest in 1994 (at 20%), the figure for this group rocketed to exceed 25% and became the largest age group that took part in the gym in the last year. Besides that, just three-twentieth people aged 34-43 went to the gym in the first year. Then, this share fluctuated over 16 years, surpassing the rate of group 44-53 in 2006 at 25%, however, after 4 years it reduced 7 percentage points.
Looking at the chart in more detail, the gym attendance rate of EU inhabitants aged 24-33 and 18-23 remained stable in the first 4 years at 7% and 5% respectively. Furthermore, the percentage of the former rose to 10% in 2010, which is about 4% more than that of the later.
