The graph illustrates figures for the number of Russians under the age of 23 who watched four types of movies in cinemas between 2005 and 2010.
Overall, it is clear that adventure movies, for most of the given period, was by far the highest, whilst romance movies had the lowest figures. It is also noticeable that whilst the number of people watching adventure and horror movies increased, that of people watching sci-fi and romance fell.
Looking at the graph in more detail, it can be seen that in 2005, the number of Russians watching adventure genre movies stood at just under 300.000, and figures for sci-fi stood at just under 200.000. By contrast, that of Russians watching horror movies constituted around 110.000 and 65.000 for those who watched romance. By 2008, figures had changed considerably with the number of people watching adventure movies to 400,000 and horror 150.000. Sci-fi, however, fell by around 60,000 people. Romance movie numbers fluctuated between 60.000 and 40.000 for the entire period.
By the end of the period in 2010, the number of Russians watching movies of horror had surpassed that of adventure, which remained at 400.000, therefore, its index reached 450.000. Sci-fi watchers’ number saw a decrease of 40.000.
