The line graph illustrates the average monthly rainfall (mm) in a Coastal city over a period of 12 months. Meanwhile, the pie chart depicts the distribution of rainfall along with the percentages of intensity levels.
Overall, the average rainfall was highest in the month of May and the least amount of rainfall was recorded in December. Additionally, the distribution of the light (0 – 2.5 mm) rainfall intensity level had the largest share, while the extreme (> 30 mm) rainfall intensity level recorded the least share in the total annual distribution.
At the start of the year, 78mm was the average rate of rainfall in coastal city which dropped to 63mm in the following month. After February, the average rainfall increased steadily and reached a peak of 142mm in the month of May. From June to onwards the average rainfall decreased gradually reaching 76mm in September. In October, the average value of rainfall rose slightly to 102mm and then dropped again to 95mm in November and dipped to 70mm in December.
The total annual rainfall distribution was 90%, with the largest portion
of 35% rainfall recorded against the light (0 – 2.5 mm) intensity level while the extreme ( > 30 mm) intensity level had only 5% distribution share. The moderate intensity level distributed 28% rainfall, heavy rainfall retained 28% intensity, and very heavy rainfall had the intensity level of 12%.
