This graph showcases the growing community of social media users. As it can be seen, facebook retains as the main social media with 2,500 million users in contrasts with Twitter, which in 2022 has not shown a signifcant growth. We can deduce, from this graph, that people still prefere to share pictures and thoughts with people they know than becoming a self-opinionated twitter star.
We can also observe a rapid growth on Tik Tok, starting with a few users in 2017 and raising significantly up to 2022. This could be due to the lenght and the content of the videos, which most of the times are fun and short. It is impressive to see that in 2022 the number of users was 1,719 millions and it is projected to grow in the following years, we do not know if at some point it will overcome Facebook, but as of now the rapidity of its growth is certainly showing that it is a trendy app.
Whereas Faceook is on the lead, and Tik Tok is growing at a rapid pace, there are some apps that have not risen significantly, for example: snapchat started with about 400 million users in 2017 and it only gained 129 million users in 5 years which is very little compared to the users that Tik Tok has won in the last 5 years. In the other hand, Instagram has not grown as expected and only gained 700 million users from 2017 to 2022.
So, the sudden rise of Tik Tok is showing important data on where publicity agencies should invest their money on, what people prefere and what the next move could be.
