The chart gives information about the amount of energy used in the USA from 1970, and a prediction for 2030.
Overall, looking at the graph, it is predicted that there will be significant increases in the consumption of energy generated from geothermal, solar/wind and petro & oil. while that of nuclear power will decrease considerably. It is also apparent that the most favored type of energy is fossil fuels.
Focusing first on two energy sources with the highest consumption at the beginning, CO2 intensive energy has a clear and superior consumption compared to other types of energy. In 1970, it started from 10 billion units and until 2020 it rose remarkably to nearly 20 billion units. In 2030, coventional power consumption is expected to increase by 10 billion units compared to 2020. Before gradually falling below 5 billion units in 2020, nuclear power stood at nearly 10 billion units. By 2030, this energy source is forecasted to continue to decline slightly.
In terms of the remaining types of power, the amount of use of geothermal power and wind/solar energy soared between 1970 and 2020. Both climbed by 10 billion units from 1970 to 2020, with solar/wind experiencing a larger growth. In 2030, it is anticipated that the utilization of these sources of energy will keep growing.
