The line graph illustrates how many people used 5 types of communication services namely landline, cellular phone, internet, fixed and mobile around the world from 1998 to 2008.
Overall, there was an increase in the number of people who used different communication services, with cellular phone services witnessing the most dramatic rise. In contrast, mobile and fixed broadband had the lowest figures throughout the period.
To begin with, the number of people using cell phones and the internet started at around 3 and then saw a considerable increases respectively 65 and 21 10 years later. It is clear to see that the figure for cell phones was approximately 3 times as much as that of internet at the end of the period.
Meanwhile, the number of people using landline services rose slightly from around 15 to 20 in 2005 and dropped to about 18% in the next 3 years. Moreover, the figures for fixed and mobile broadband remain unchanged at 1 in the first 6 years and saw a slight climb to nearly 3 in 2008.
