The line graph illustrates the proportion of various age groups of movie watchers among four age groups in a certain country. A quick glance at the chart is enough to understand that the 14 to 24 years of age group were the most frequent movie-goers during this three-decade period starting in the early 1970s.
From 1978 to 1988, the percentage of cinema attendees fell from 90% (14-24 age group), 80% (25-34 age group), 60% (35-49 age group), and 40% (50+ age group) to 75%, 60%, 40%, and 20%, respectively. The next decade saw an increase in the percentage of cinema watchers in all age groups. In the next five years after that, there was stability in the cinema attendance across all age groups. From 2003 to 2008, the popularity of cinema decreased, except for the over 50s, whose percentage of cinema attendance increased.
Overall, it is clear that going to the cinema was more popular among the younger age groups, and the trends were almost similar throughout, except for the 50 plus age group, whose percentage of cinema attendance increased after 2003, whereas that of all other age groups decreased.
