The line graph gives information about the number of theatre visitors depending on groups of age in various countries between 1978 to 2008. Overall, the graph fluctuated in each year. There is an upward and downward trend over a 30-year period of time.
In 1978, the Group of people that spent most of their leisure time in cinema was pre-teen and teenagers at 90 per cent. The second-ranked was a group of age 25-34 years old at 80 per cent. The group of middle age was at 60 per cent and the last group of people that visited the theatre was the elderly and seniors at 40 per cent respectively.
In 1988, there was a downward trend in theatre customers. The percentage of cinema visitors dropped dramatically. In particular, the percentage of adult groups declined significantly from 1978 to about 20 per cent and the young people’s number dropped from 90 per cent to around 75 per cent. However, after 1988, the percentage of young people group that spent time in cinema rose substantially from 75 per cent to 90 per cent. The number of middle age group also rocketed rose from 40 per cent in 1988 to 60 per cent in 1998.
To sum up, the trend of visiting theatre around this 30-year period always fluctuated. In 2008, The most of people who spent time visiting the cinema were the group of 50 years old or above 50 per cent. Thus, the group of pre-teen, teenagers, and middle age spent less time on cinema compared to 1978.
