The line graph illustrates the proportion of different age cohorts of people visited to cinema in one country from 1978 to 2008. Overall, it is clear that almost all trends followed the same trajectory over the span, albeit to varying degrees. There were upward trends in all age groups, except for the oldest one throughout the period.
Focusing on higher figures, the percentage of people visiting cinema in 14-24 and 25-34 age categories, both dropped by around 20% in the initial year. Before finishing the period at roughly four-fifths, the former saw a recovery from approximately 75% to staggering 90% between 1988 and 1998. Similarly, the latter witnessed a minimal rise from 60% to 70%, thereafter which further dropping negligible by 5% at the end of the timeframe.
By contrast, the proportion of cinema visitors aged between 35-49 and over 50, both followed the same pattern, with 20% difference until 2003. The figures saw a decrease of one-fifth and then rebounded to 60% and 40% respectively from 1978 to 1998. After plateauing at 60%, the former converged with the latter at 50%.
