The line graph illustrates the portion of usage of five communication services – landline, cellular phone, internet, fixed broadband, and mobile broadband from 1998 to 2008.
Overall, it is clear that there was a fluctuating trajectory in all methods. While cellular phone service was the most popular method, the percentage of fixed and mobile broadband was the lowest during the period shown.
As can be seen from the graph, in 1998, landline service was used by nearly 20% of people, which was the highest proportion of users. By contrast, no one used fixed and mobile broadband. In the same year, the number of individuals who used cellular phone and internet services was the same, at nearly equally 5%. Over six years later, cellular service overtook landlines as the primary method of communication. The percentage of people who communicated across the internet slightly rose to 10%, whereas fixed and mobile broadband remained stable.
Between 2004 and 2008, cellular mobile service continued to increase and reached a peak of some 60%. In addition, the proportion of people using the internet for communication grew to 20% before surpassing 15% for landline services. The use of fixed and mobile broadband steadily rose by only 5% during the last four years
