In 1911, there were closed exceed 20.000 men in prison. This number dropped in 1931 to around 10.000 , but then it started to rise . From 1931 to 1971 , the figure leveled out in the level of 20.000 . From 1971 , the male prisoners went up rapidly more than 40.000 . Finally , it increased and it was the peak.

On the other hand, the number of female prisoners stared from the highest point in 1911 . Then th amount of female prisoners plunged to the bottom between 1921 to 1941 , during approximately 20 years. Next, the number of female prisoners trended gradually from 1941 to 1961 . Then until 1961 , the quantity changed sporadically in range of 1.500 and 1.000 . Finally, in 2001 , there were around 2.000 women in prison
