Looking at the illustration, it is immediately evident that China recorded the highest figure in most years, whereas the opposite was true for the USA. Additionally, most country showed an overall downward trend except for China.
In 2000, the percentage of clothing exported from the European Union dominated the chart at approximately 32%, which was roughly double the figure for China. Asia (without China) ranked third at around 30%, compared with a mere 11% for the USA, which came in last. In 2008, China had overtaken the European Union to become the highest figure in the chart.
In 2014, after some fluctuations, China experienced strong growth to reach a peak of around 36% and continued to register the biggest figure in the chart. The figure for the European Union declined substantially to stand at about 21%. Meanwhile, Asia and the USA decreased to nearly 20% and 6%, respectively.
