Over the next two years, the figures for Japan rose significantly and peaked at 3 USD per kilogram, the highest price recorded in the graph, meanwhile, that of France remained unchanged. In the last year, the two figures converged at 2 USD per kilogram, same as their starting points, after fluctuating considerably from 1998 to 2003.
Regarding the figures for two remaining nations, people in Germany spent 1.5 USD for a kilogram of imported bananas, which was 0.5 USD higher than that of USA. Despite a slight fall in 1997, imported banana prices in Germany then reached a peak in the next year before nosediving to roughly 1.25 USD in 1999. This figure then climbed steadily to approximately 1.75 USD in 2004. However, banana prices in USA stabilized throughout, rising slightly to over 1 USD in the last year.
