The line graph shows the difference in trends of abroad visits made by UK residents and visits made to the UK by foreigners from 1979 to 1999 while, the bar graph depicts the popular countries most visited by Uk residents, in millions.
Overall, it is noticeable from the line graph that more UK residents visited abroad than overseas residents arrived at the UK. From the bar graph, France was the most popular country and Turkey was the least popular country to visit for UK residents.
As can be seen from the line graph, more than ten million UK tourists visited abroad in 1979. The numbers peaked to thirty million and forty million by 1989 and 1994 respectively. In 1999, visitor numbers crossed to more than fifty million. Likewise, the visits made to the UK by foreign residents started from exactly ten million in 1997 which had a gradual increase to more than twenty five million in 1999 which is half the number of UK tourists.
Turning to the most popular countries visited by UK residents in 1999, France was the most visited country with eleven million visits and the lowest was made to Turkey with almost two million visits. The second most visited country was Spain with 9 million tourists. Likewise, 3 million and 4 million people visited Greece and Turkey respectively.
