Overall, it is evident that there was an uptrend in visitors to and from the UK over the entire period, and UK residents visited France more frequently than any of the other four countries.
According to the line graph, at the beginning of the period, overseas visitors traveling to the UK stood at 10 million, while UK residents visiting abroad were around 12 million. After this year, the number of visitors coming to the UK rose fairly insignificant at first before increasing gradually by the end of the period to just under 30 million, lower than the number of UK citizens going abroad. Whereas, the figure for UK residents traveling to other countries increased significantly over the following decade, peaking in 1999 at just above 50 million.
Concerning the bar chart, in 1999, France was the most popular country visited by people from the UK, accounting for the biggest number at around 12 million. The second most popular country was Spain, followed by the USA. The former attracted approximately 9 million visitors, and the latter around 4 million. Additionally, Greece and Turkey represented the least popular countries, with just around 3 and 2 million visitors from the UK, respectively.
