The presented map compares two potential locations for the building of a new supermarket in a town called Garlsdon.
Looking from an overall perspective, the main difference between the two sites is that one is located in the countryside, whereas the other is in the town centre. Both potential sites are close to the railway, and reasonably near to a main road.
To begin with, S1 is proposed to be constructed on the northwestern edge of Garlsdon, situated in the rural area and close to a main road leading to Hindon. It is positioned just outside the main residential area and is relatively distant from the town centre. In addition, the location is close to a railway line and accessible for residents of Hindon via the connecting road to reach the place. However, it lies outside the no-traffic zone and is not centrally located within the housing or industrial areas of Garlsdon.
By contrast, S2 is situated in the town centre, within the no-traffic zone. Moreover, it is surrounded by housing and lies adjacent to an industrial zone to the south. It is also near the railway, potentially allowing access by train. Furthermore, the town centre location places it closer to Cransdon, the town with the highest population nearby, and also conveniently reached from Bransdon, which is situated 16 km to the southwest.
