The map illustrates the changes in the beachfront zone in Australia between 1950 and the present day.
Overall, according to the map, the area has been significantly modernized with leisure and tourism facilities, while the beach itself and the pavilion remained in their original locations. Three new facilities have been constructed in the beach area.
In 1950, a long road was located on the north side of the beach, leading to the car park in the north-east. A large playground for children and a pavilion were situated just along the road, with outdoor sitting areas between them. In the center of the map, we can see the beach itself, which was bordered on its horizontal sides by two large 25-meter swimming pools. Finally, a large lighthouse was located on the south-east side of the map.
In the present day, the area has been enormously changed. The road on the north side remained in its original location, however, it was expanded to the east. A new car park has been constructed in place of the children’s playground, and the facilities in the center of the map have remained. The swimming pool in the south-west has been extended to 50 meters, and a surf club and restaurant have been added nearby. Furthermore, a modern surf club has been built on the south-east side of the map, located close to the lighthouse.
