The maps illustrate the current layout of an industrial area in Norbiton and the proposed plans for its future development.
Overall, it is manifest that the site is slated to be transformed from an industrial zone into a fully developed residential area. The most prominent change involves the complete demolition of all factories, which will be replaced by housing, along with the addition of social infrastructure and new transport links.
Currently, the central area features several factories surrounding a main roundabout and along an eastern road. Under the future plan, all these industrial structures will be razed to the ground to make way for residential housing. Additionally, a new road extending southwards will connect the main roundabout to a newly constructed smaller roundabout on the southern boundary. Beside this new junction, a medical centre and a row of shops are planned to be built to the southeast and southwest, respectively.
Further modifications will take place in the eastern and northern sections. To the east, a playground and a school will be erected adjacent to the eastern residential units. Looking to the north, a bridge is set to be built across the river, extending the road network into the farmland. Consequently, a new residential cluster will be established on the northern bank of the river, while reducing the area of farmland.
